Former President Donald Trump has recently reiterated his concerns about the potentially life-threatening implications of heated political rhetoric. The suspect, Ryan Wesley Routh, 58 years old, was apprehended by law enforcement agencies.

Trump informed Fox News Digital that Routh’s actions were driven by the influential commentary coming from President Biden and Vice President Harris. “Their rhetoric is putting me under gunfire when I am trying to preserve the country from being decimated both internally and externally,” said Trump.

The former president took particular issue with how Biden and Harris portrayed themselves as proponents of unity whilst characterising Trump as a “threat to democracy”, blatantly terming these accusations as fallacious. He expressed his concern that this type of narrative fosters division within the country and breeds enmity that causes serious incidents like attempted assassinations.

Democratic leaders’ propensity for provoking violence using strategic approaches comprising inflammatory speech paired with lawsuits were flagged by Trump as dangerous catalysts for violence-enthused individuals like Routh.

The former president believes such malicious tactics have heightened hatefulness, abuse, and mistrust in American politics while escalating its violent streak. “This Communist left rhetoric prompts bullets to fly around and fan the flames of violence,” cautioned Donald Trump.

Following this incident, several Democrats attempted to turn tables on Trump, holding him accountable for instigating such dangerous behavior from individuals like the shooter. This tendency of blaming victims rather than attackers incensed many right-wing voices who see it as a manipulation of reality.

The recurrence of politically motivated assassination attempts in recent times has rekindled public debates over insidious rhetoric’s role in inspiring violent acts in bad-natured actors.
