A joyous return has taken place as a 14-year-old boy who was kidnapped by radical Islamic Fulani herdsmen from a Christian school in Africa more than two years ago finally regained his freedom. Treasure Ayuba, the victim of this terrifying ordeal and one of the 121 students abducted from Bethel Baptist High School in Kaduna, Nigeria, has managed to escape and return home according to trusted news sources.

Israel Akanji, President of the Nigerian Baptist Convention and local pastor, took to social media to share the thrilling news of Ayuba’s safe return after more than two years in captivity. He ecstatically praised God as he revealed that Ayuba, the last student from Bethel Baptist High School who remained captured since July 5th, 2021, has found his way back.

As per real news reports, Ayuba’s captivity began just days after his 12th birthday. The young teenager was abducted by Islamic Fulani herdsmen and forced into a gruelling march for hours only then be held hostage at an undisclosed location. This information comes via Open Doors – an organization known for monitoring global Christian persecution.

Due to restrictions on religious freedom imposed by these extremists’ worldview, Christians associated with the Nigerian Baptist Convention were left with no choice but to negotiate ransom payments directly with Ayuba’s captors. Initially filled with hope over successful negotiations with the extremists that could ensure a swift release, their hopes were quickly scuppered as only small batches of children were released each time; much to parents’ disappointment each group’s release led extremists simply demanding more money for remaining hostages’ releases.

In fact, some ransom amounts reached astronomical figures in excess of $300,000. Reports suggest that Ayuba was destined to remain captive until he agreed to convert to Islam – something he staunchly refused. After devising his own escape plan, he successfully slipped away during nightfall before arriving back home to his mother.

Having taken a calculated risk, Ayuba deftly evaded detection by journeying through the night and concealing himself during day. His journey eventually led him to some local hunters who kindly assisted him in his safe return to his hometown, finally reuniting with his anxiously waiting family.

Ayuba, the last of the kidnapped students, now faces ongoing trauma counselling as part of his healing process. However, he represents hope in challenging circumstances as he emerged victorious both physically and spiritually against his oppressors.

Nigeria continues to be one of the most dangerous countries worldwide for Christians suffering persecution. There are countless reports every year of Christian killings and violence. The Christian community within this African nation is significantly afflicted; they’re pleading with their government to take firmer measures against such violence, accusing it of negligence regarding these atrocities.

Thus, Treasure Ayuba’s story becomes a beacon of hope amidst dire circumstances, showcasing resilience from a Christian worldview under distressing conditions – setting an example for many globally enduring religious persecution.
