The TikTok influencer who initiated the viral trend of saying “very demure” has expressed his disappointment over an individual trademarking the term before he could. Jools Lebron, a figure on TikTok famous for identifying as transgender, became popular after posting clips that feature a narrative with phrases like “very demure, very mindful, very cutesy.” This trend garnered much attention and even went as far as catching the eye of prominent personalities such as celebrities and those in political circles, including a reference in the White House communications.

One post from August 16th displayed a gleeful snapshot of President Biden with a caption detailing the cancelation of student debt for almost 5 million Americans deemed to be “very mindful. Very demure.”

Following his initial success and subsequent increase in followers on TikTok, reaching more than two million individuals, Lebron explained that any income earned would be utilized to support his transition surgery. From simply filming videos during work breaks, Lebron’s popularity has seen him host events across the nation and is preparing to finance his transition.

However, it was recently revealed that Lebron’s renowned expression had been filed for trademarking by an individual named Jefferson Bates in Washington – a development which has upset the influential TikToker.

Amidst the unexpected turn of events, Lebron took to social media (in posts since deleted) conveying his disappointment at what he sees as missed opportunities: to provide for both his family’s financial needs and expenses associated with his transition surgery.

The situation led another party named Raluca Pop to also register for a trademark – this time aiming at securing one of Lebron’s other prevalent expressions: “Very Demure Very Cutesy.” Pop carried out this strategic register with intentions of transferring ownership to Lebron later on. Reportedly moved by seeing someone else attempt to capitalize on Lebron’s creative efforts without due acknowledgment or benefit passed onto its originator, Pop has presented an alternative approach. At present, the trademark applications made by both Bates and Pop are still pending.

Stars including Jennifer Lopez and Reese Witherspoon capitalized on the “very demure” trend to boost their current projects. Meanwhile, Lebron expanded his influence to partnerships with brands like Verizon and Lyft, marking further milestones in his journey, such as appearing on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” last week.

The original post that shot Lebron into prominence was a Tiktok video shared in early August where Lebron was seen doing make-up while delivering his unique narration. The popularity of these posts with engaging content flowing from the real news of everyday experiences reflects the importance of maintaining trusted news sources grounded in Christian worldview principles. Furthermore, it underscores both the speed at which news moves and reshapes societal discourses today and how real events unfold within our daily lives and digital spaces.
