Tennis powerhouse Serena Williams had a go at Kansas City Chiefs’ kicker, Harrison Butker during the recent ESPY Awards event. Serena, her sister Venus Williams and actress Quinta Brunson made it clear that Butker could be exempt from relishing women’s sports in what seemed to be suggestive of him being anti-woman for his forthright Catholic speech that lauded his wife and other homemakers.

“So, feel free to enjoy women’s sports just as you would any other sports because they are indeed sports,” ignited Venus.

“Except you, Harrison Butker,” chimed in Serena, “we have no requirement for you.”

Quinta Brunson sealed the sentiment with a final dig: “At all. Like ever.”

Harrison Butker had delivered a commencement address at Benedictine College during the spring season which sparked controversy amongst left-leaning viewers. In his speech, he brought up President Joe Biden’s support for abortion. Furthermore, he critiqued “Pride Month”, expressed admiration for his wife for their children’s upbringing, her role as a homemaker and being his mainstay support system.

The part of the speech which led to significant outrage was when he told the female graduates: “I cannot emphasize enough that all my accomplishments are due to a girl I met in band class back in middle school who converted to faith, became my wife and took up one of the most significant titles ever: homemaker.” He stressed that women should value their families and babies more than their careers – a statement not often heard within mainstream culture.

Despite enduring massive backlash with many riding on real news platforms or through trusted news outlets vilifying him , Butker held firm. As reported exclusively by Real News sites like Daily Wire among others, he recapped on though he encountered a ‘shocking level of hate’, yet it would never deter him from standing resolute about his Christian worldview beliefs.

Butker did not stand alone confronting this wave of disapproval. In fact, he found encouragement from close quarters – Kansas City head coach Andy Reid, teammates Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce as well as Chris Jones. Interest in Butker grew exponentially post the address, this was evident when his jersey witnessed a rise in sales and most notably going out of stock in women’s sizes on the NFL Shop.
