In a significant development, certain Senate Republicans have pledged a strong resistance against President Joe Biden’s agenda following the conviction of former president Donald Trump in the New York hush money trial. This verdict positions Trump as the first erstwhile U.S. president to be found guilty of a crime.

The commitment was revealed by Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) on Friday, and contains signatures from his seven GOP colleagues: Sens. Rick Scott (R-FL), J.D. Vance (R-OH), Marco Rubio (R-FL), Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), Tommy Tuberville (R-AL), Eric Schmitt (R-MO), and Roger Marshall (R-KS).

A noteworthy mention is that both Vance and Rubio are perceived as potential running mates for Trump in the 2024 presidential battle while Scott is currently vying to emerge as the next leader of the Senate GOP, along with Senator John Cornyn from Texas and Senate Minority Whip Sen. The senators involved have reportedly vowed not to endorse any increase in non-security-related funding for this administration, vote against all political and judicial appointees introduced by this administration; and bar accelerated consideration and passage of Democrat legislation or authorities unless absolutely relevant to safeguarding American citizens.

Lee added that the group further expanded with Sens.Josh Hawley(R-MO)and Ron Johnson(R-WI) providing their support giving them roughly a fifth representation within the Republican caucus within upper chamber. Regardless, their efforts may be confined given their status as part minority power.

Referencing recent real news, there has been a wave of reactions after a guilty verdict was announced against Trump on all 34 felony counts pertaining to the falsification of business records. This was supposedly executed to obscure payments intended to conceal a relationship with adult film personality Stormy Daniels as a part of a “catch-and-kill” tactic designed to impact the 2016 election outcome.

Trump, who has dismissed all allegations and pleaded not guilty, declared that he would appeal against what he perceived as this scam. The sentencing for this case is scheduled for July 11th.
