Amidst a whirlwind of uncertainty and controversy, the Democratic National Convention is just six weeks away. In the midst of this political storm, a growing number of party lawmakers are urging President Joe Biden to step aside due to increasing doubts over his mental and physical capacity to fulfill his role as the leader of the free world.

This escalating worry was reported by The Washington Post on Monday, stating that as of Sunday, nine House Democrats including Reps. Jerry Nadler, Adam Smith, Mark Takano, and Joseph Morelle had advocated for Biden’s withdrawal from the presidential race.

In addition to this flurry of discontent within his party ranks, eighteen other top-ranking Democrats have publicly expressed their reservations about Biden’s capability to serve competently as president. Notable figures include Reps. James Clyburn, Nancy Pelosi, Adam Schiff and Senators Chris Murphy, Sheldon Whitehouse and Peter Welch along with Governors Andy Beshear and Maura Healey.

Seeing these turbulent circumstances evolving prominent Democratic strategists are persuading party members to seek alternatives beyond Biden for the November elections. A notable advocate for a change is none other than Former Bill Clinton strategist James Carville who suggests urging Barack Obama and Clinton themselves to facilitate town hall-style events prior to endorsing a new presidential ticket at the convention in Chicago.

On CNN’s “State of The Union” show liberal commentator Van Jones shared perhaps what many were thinking commenting: “I think people are hoping that [Biden] will recognize we’re running Kamala Harris for president right now.That’s who we’re running.”

Remarkably unperturbed by internal dissent within his party circles; Joe Biden strikes a resilient pose. His defiance was clear when he proclaimed during Tuesday’s “Morning Joe” show on MSNBC that he’s not going anywhere challenging those wanting him to step down to stand for the presidency against him.

Chip Roy pointed out that impeaching President Joe Biden under the 25th Amendment might be necessary due to his apparent cognitive decline outlining it as a constitutional responsibility. According to Roy this won’t significantly impact chances of former President Donald Trump being re-elected in November even if Vice President Kamala Harris steps up as Commander-in-Chief.
