In a significant development, U.S. Representative Rashida Tlaib (D-MI), has urged voters in Michigan’s primary to cast a protest vote as an expression of their disagreement with how the Biden administration has supported Israel during its struggle against Hamas in the Gaza Strip. In her quest for trusted news, Tlaib publicized this plea through a video she posted on social media during the weekend.

We stand up for every single life lost in Gaza.”

Calling these individuals to action, she added: “This is the method you can use to amplify our voices, making us even more visible.” She continued by saying that those who seek more assertiveness should register their presence through voting.

Belonging ideologically to the left-leaning group known colloquially as the “Squad,” Tlaib stands out as the only Palestinian American member in Congress. Her track record reveals several opposed resolutions intended mainly at expressing support for Israel; unsurprisingly earning her censure last year with regard to her reaction post-deadly terror acts by Hamas.

Complaining about Biden’s supportive stance towards Israel, they stated: “He’s not representing the young people who elected him and participated actively in the midterms – these individuals are currently protesting his policies in the streets.”

On a similar note, Biden’s administration has vocalized favor for Israel to defend itself against Hamas, appealed for more aid for Israel, while pushing for the liberation of an estimated 100 hostages believed to still be held captive by the militant group. However, president Biden has recently cajoled Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu not to pursue a ground invasion into Rafah – a southern city in Gaza; viewed as refuge by over half of Gaza’s population of 2.3 million during this turmoil.

Sharing his sentiment last Friday, Biden was quoted saying: “I’ve made the case — and I feel very strongly about it — that there should be a temporary ceasefire to secure release of the prisoners…the hostages…and that is underway. I maintain my optimism that this can be achieved.” In wrapping up, he expressed his hopefulness towards no major land invasion happening meanwhile.
