Noted Christian blogger, Jordan Daniel “J.D.” Hall, has been found guilty of embezzlement and was ordered by a local court to repay the siphoned funds. This comes more than two years after Hall was deposed as the lead pastor at Fellowship Baptist Church in Sidney, Montana, following allegations of prescription drug abuse, domestic violence, and financial misappropriation.

Once an influential voice in the Christian community through blogs like Pulpit & Pen and later Protestia, infamous for his tough critique of various Christian leaders, JD Hall is currently embroiled in legal proceedings. His sentencing deferred due to an agreement established on September 10 which also necessitates a public apology to his church.

In his court-ordered apology statement, Hall admitted he had made severe mistakes that hurt the church he dearly loved and served for a significant period. Expressing deepest regret over his actions and acknowledging them as his sins, he hoped for healing and forgiveness among the congregants while intending to lead a quieter life henceforth.

The convicted ex-pastor’s deferral agreement requires him to make full restitution. Other stipulations include mandatory reporting to probation authorities, total abstinence from drugs or alcohol, and prohibition against owning any weapons or entering bars or casinos for three years.

In 2022 fellow members of the Fellowship Baptist Church levied grave accusations on Hall concerning Xanax abuse that escalated into dependency. He was also accused by church officials of embezzling “amounts exceeding $10,000,” according to law enforcement reports. Further allegations arose from Hall’s wife who alleged domestic violence leading her to evict him from their shared residence.

Supported by Deedra Erickson, the church’s treasurer claims included misuse of official debit card assigned for religious work for private purchases. These misappropriations involved trips unrelated to pastoral duties and payments towards independent publications surfaced during official inquiries.

Despite appealing pleas from branded supporters like Protestia’s David Morrill, who contested the embezzlement charges by questioning investigative thoroughness and integrity, Hall was found guilty. Objecting to hasty conclusions drawn from testimonies of affected parties without corroborating evidence did little in swaying court proceedings.
