The President of the United States, Joe Biden, was joined by First Lady Jill Biden and other prominent cabinet members, including Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin this Friday at a dignified transfer ceremony. The solemn event took place at Dover Air Force Base where the coffins, each swathed with the American flag, contained the remains of three service members.

These brave soldiers had sadly lost their lives following a drone strike in Jordan near the Syrian border. Their identities were disclosed last Monday by Pentagon officials as Army Reservist members based out of Fort Moore in Georgia: Sgt. William Jerome Rivers (46), Spc. Kennedy Ladon Sanders (24), and Spc. Breonna Alexsondria Moffett (23). The attack, credited to Iranian-back militias, also resulted in at least 25 other servicemen’s injuries.

Whereas this ceremony was spared such gaffes, citizens haven’t forgotten past faux pas involving President Biden during such somber occasions; an infamous incident involved him checking his watch during a similar ceremony for the fallen U.S troops of the Kabul disaster in August 2021.
