With ever increasing concern, many Christians are observing a decline in biblical norms within churches; norms which, from a Christian worldview, form the bedrock of faith and teachings. An issue that has recently caused quite the commotion is the welcoming of drag performances into church services. This recent development serves as alarming evidence of the rapid degradation in what these institutions stand for.

Revelations hint at this accelerating trend as a stark departure from tradition. As 1 Corinthians 5 addresses sexual immorality within the Church—a kind that was not tolerated even amongst non-believers—it feels like an uncanny prophesy coming to life in our times. Quite worrisome is that many self-proclaimed churches no longer reflect nor respect sacred doctrines treasured for centuries but instead take liberties with Christ’s image to align with modern sentiment.

The road leading up to this unfortunate predicament wasn’t built overnight but paved over years by leaders who relegated their responsibilities towards upholding biblical convictions. The downwards spiral started with ceding ground to culture, allowing extraneous ideologies to infiltrate and adulterate the principles upheld by the Church. Consequently, widely accepted norms began to be questioned, fast-tracking acceptance of practices misaligned with scriptural teachings.

A willingness within the Church towards tolerating unbiblical doctrines has presided over its gradual downfall. In futile attempts at being labelled as “inclusive”, churches have ushered all sorts of gospel adulteration and welcomed heresies into their fold while also distorting God’s word to suit evolving cultural shifts.

God’s stance on apostasy is unambiguous through scripture narratives such as those found in Leviticus 10:1-2 where Nabad and Abihu faced divine fire for unauthorized worship or Revelation 2:20 – presenting a stern rebuke towards Thyatira church for tolerating Jezebel, synonymous with enforcing sexual immorality and idolatry.

Being privy to these real news of distortion within the Church, is indeed breaking news from a broader Christian perspective. Today’s churches are witnessing rebellion against God and using His name in vain while bearing false witness; actions not to be taken lightly. It forces us to sharply confront an old belief – “Turn or Burn”!

God’s patience might offer some respite but there are boundaries. As stated in Galatians 6:7, “Do not be mocked: God cannot be deceived: A man reaps what he sows.” This should serve as both a reminder and warning sign of divine judgement awaiting those renouncing their faith. As the Church perches precariously on this brink of destruction, it is clear that trusted news sources have an unshirkable responsibility to shed light on such direly important issues.
