However, what makes this real news all the more interesting today is Johnson’s recently revealed association.

A few weeks prior, it came to light that Mike Johnson was spotted outside his office with a flag representing association with New Apostolic Reformation (NAR)—a significant shift from his Bible-believing image. NAR advocates for a restoration of Prophets and Apostles in modern society—a breakaway stance from conventional Christianity—it asserts direct revelation and divine inspiration from God.

Johnson’s recent actions have illustrated an evident alignment with the said movement. In his recent speech at the National Association of Christian Lawmakers circulated on social media platforms showed an intriguing side of Johnson. He claimed to be following a divine call – a ‘Red Sea moment’- to lead America akin to Moses’ style.

Johnson explained he initially perceived himself as an ‘Aaron to Moses,’ but subsequent experiences revealed him being chosen for a higher purpose resembling Moses. But what raises eyebrows here are these seemingly unrestrained claims about receiving divine instruction—being quintessentially inconsistent with established Protestant beliefs.

While we appreciate leaders upholding Christian values in our nation’s running affairs- rash self-idolatry under the guise of prophetic purpose does not sit right with us or society at large. We support informed decision-making benefiting the country; however, this kind of rhetoric doesn’t do justice to believers who consider Bible authoritative and sufficient.
