Mike Cosper, a key figure in major Christian organizations such as The Gospel Coalition (TGC) and the Southern Baptist Convention’s Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission (ERLC), has lately caught the attention of the Evangelical Church. Long-standing listeners may recognize him from his celebrated podcast series—The Rise and Fall of Mars Hill—a product of his current role as Christianity Today’s “director of podcasting”.

Although perhaps known most widely for his earlier work serving as a “music pastor” at a church in Louisville, KY, Cosper recently sparked controversy with a number of unexpected endorsements. Additionally spotted in the lineup are Evan Wickham—who plans on discussing topics around deconstruction and reconstruction—and Street Hymns, who identifies himself as Black Hebrew Israelite.

Buoyed up by these influences, Mike Cosper’s activities could indeed leave lasting shifts in modern Evangelical Christianity culture; many fear that these recent events might facilitate a more liberal orientation spreading through the Evangelical Church.
