Undeniably divisive football standout, Megan Rapinoe, butt heads with the Christian community after a recent podcast where she ridiculed their response to remarks she made about her soccer injury being “proof” God doesn’t exist.

In her last game before bidding farewell to her soccer career in November, Rapinoe encountered an injury to her achilles. Offering an explanation for this unfortunate turn of events, she said in a post-game chat with the media, “I’m not religious per se and the occurrence of such injuries just affirms my conviction that there isn’t a God.”

“Why feign surprise at me cracking this joke or being sarcastic regarding what happened?” continued the 38-year-old retiree. “Who’s the object of jest? God, myself, religion, or the world at large? I can’t really tell but it’s hilarious,” she chuckled.

Identifying as a combustible figure herself, Rapinoe hinted that some people rejoiced over her injury – a faction she assigned a “special place in hell.”

Speaking about that poignant moment post-injury when her teammates surrounded her she recalled – “Sure, it was melancholic but also reflective of life’s breaks and bends. Given my controversial persona it was intriguing how people subtly relished this mishap while maintaining decorum.”

Rapinoe has undeniably gathered controversy throughout her soccer trip. Known for leading anthem-kneeling movements while playing for U.S. women’s national team and firing off on Left-wing causes – she never shied away from catapulting herself into divisive discussions, even drawing ire for her stand on topics related to gender in sports.

Of note, in 2022, Rapinoe stirred a storm by flippantly discussing girls’ sports, particularly girls’ volleyball. Advocating for the incorporation of boys and men who identify as transgender into female athletics – she expressed complete support to Time magazine for “trans inclusion” in girls’ sports.
