In a recent discussion of the landmark 2022 Supreme Court decision overturning Roe v. Wade, Matt Walsh, respected host on the Daily Wire, pointedly addressed the Arizona abortion ruling. During his conversation with conservative commentator Charlie Kirk on “The Charlie Kirk Show”, he expressed disappointment over Republicans retreating from pro-life victories.

This far-reaching dialogue came to light following the Arizona Supreme Court’s impactful ruling that allows a law from 1864, preventing almost all abortions within the state, to take effect. That some conservative politicians appeared hesitant to support this pro-life stance provoked further commentary from Walsh.

“The current narrative is that adopting a more moderate outlook on abortion or being somewhat pro-abortion is how elections are won,” remarked Walsh. However, he highlighted that this isn’t a novel tactic within Republican ranks but rather a longstanding tendency of forgetting their commitments towards life preservation.

For decades now, according to Walsh, GOP has insisted that maintaining an aggressively pro-life position leaps them into electoral defeatism. Thus, diluting their stand on abortion appears as an attractive option to win the voter confidence.

An apparent inconsistency among certain Republicans showed up when they advocate for state-level decisions on abortion laws and yet object when states like Arizona rule in favor of banning abortion. Rendering this inconsistent approach as quasi-pro-abortive than truly endorsing state rights was one of Walsh’s remarks during this dialogue session.

Public reactions swirled around the bold Arizona Supreme Court ruling among different sections of Republicans leadership. Surprisingly enough, significant figures including former president Donald Trump and Arizona GOP Senate candidate Kari Lake objected to the drastic ban on abortions enabled by this ruling.

Specially highlighting Trump’s comments post-ruling effected due to his leading role in the Presidential race due for 2024, he termed the 1864 law enactment as stepping beyond boundaries and expressed assurance about its rectification soon: “It’s all about state rights… I’m sure that it’ll be brought back to reason.”

Some prominent Republicans such as Kari Lake and Rep. David Schweikert, involved in tight election races, too voiced their disagreements with this stringent ruling.

Walsh criticized the lack of effective, strategic capitalization on conservative victories compared to how the left-wing gears up after triumphs. He highlighted that while Democrats celebrate and immediately strategize subsequent victories post a win, some segments within the right-wing undermine such accomplishments due to presumed political inconvenience.

Expressing concern over these defeatist tendencies within the conservative segment, Walsh pointed out their retreat from hard-earned victories rather than capitalizing on those instances.

In light of these events, Democrats are gearing up to politicize abortion rights into a pivotal factor for upcoming polls. They fervently associate Arizona’s old abortion law’s now operational status along with Trump’s anti-Roe stance as stimuli for rallying their voter base in presidential elections set for later this year.

Beyond these serious discussions, Walsh also engaged in discussing his new comedy court series “JUDGED by Matt Walsh”, which marks his debut as a respected judge and premiered recently.
