Farm machinery luminaries, John Deere, have recently joined a growing list of organizations rolling back their involvement in diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives. They made the announcement earlier this week through a public statement concerning internal policies that better concur with their business objectives and customer demands.

Among numerous changes announced is an immediate halt to participation in social or cultural awareness events such as parades or festivals. The company opting to focus more keenly on business strategy rather than societal issues has been met with some backlash as well as support from varied quarters on the real news platform.

Further commitments from John Deere include auditing their training materials for any content bearing “socially motivated messages” beyond the legal requirements at federal, state, and local levels. The company was robust in its reiteration of not having any quota systems in place for diversity nor any policy requiring employees to declare preferred pronouns.

Key Commitments released by John Deere include:
– Non-participation or support for external social or cultural awareness parades, festivals, or events.
– Business Resource Groups focusing exclusively on areas such as professional development, networking, mentoring and bolstering recruitment efforts.
– Ensuring all company-required training materials do not contain socially driven messages while staying compliant with federal, state and local laws.
– A reconfirmation that diversity quotas and the obligation to identify individual’s preferred pronouns are not part of official company policy.
– Despite these shifts away from overt DEI measures, John Deere firmly expressed its belief that a diverse workforce is essential to meet customer needs effectively. Hence they will continue tracking and promoting organizational diversity.

Coinciding reports indicated similar movements within technical giants Microsoft who have reportedly laid off a DEI team claiming such strategies were redundant. In an email shared among thousands within its workforce; it claimed that system changes previously deemed business-critical associated with DEI programs had lost their relevance since 2020.

Several other corporations have also followed suit, stepping back from initial commitments made largely due to societal pressures. Video communications company Zoom trimmed its DEI group in favour of working with external experts as per reporting by Bloomberg.

Tech influencers Google and Meta (Facebook) were highlighted for reducing their DEI initiatives despite prior promises. Recently published statistics in a trusted news source, CNBC, indicate that mid-2023 DEI-related job positions had declined by 44% compared to the same period in 2022.

John Deere isn’t alone in farm-related companies scaling down on DEI; Tractor Supply announced their withdrawal from the leftist Human Rights Campaign and reneged on previously stated DEI goals last June.

As we continue to observe trends within a christian worldview of valuing all humanity equally, it is clear that large entities make strategic choices considering larger business strategies while grappling with societal pressures towards diversity, equity and inclusion.
