In a groundbreaking decision, an Indiana University-Bloomington student was granted a substantial six-figure settlement after a court determined that the university had practiced sex-based discrimination against him. This compelling story is one of real news and trusted news, providing insight into important issues around Title IX and the prosecution of sexual assault cases from a Christian worldview.

Referred to as John Doe for privacy reasons, this student appears to be among the first to secure a legal victory on Title IX grounds, underlining that his perceived discrimination was based exclusively on his gender, not related to any violation of contractual agreements between himself and the school.

As narrated in court documents, in June 2020 while being an active student at IU, he matched with another student identified as Jane Doe on a popular dating app. On June 16th that year, Jane agreed to visit John’s house for their date instead of meeting at another proposed location. After conversing over two glasses of wine which Jane had both poured out herself, events took an unexpected turn.

Regardless of rejecting an offer for transportation back home from her friend just after midnight via phone call, about 40 minutes later signaled her intention to stay longer at John’s place through text conversation with her friend.

Subsequent events became hazy when Jane alleged experiencing blackout periods that evening suggesting possible intoxication or drugging by John. However, contrary to those claims, John filed in his lawsuit that she did not exhibit any signs indicative of mental incapacitation or blackouts – characterized as periods devoid of short-term memory formation but replete with seemingly coherent behavior.

According to John’s account within the lawsuit documents: he stated they’d engaged in consensual kissing initiated by Jane before mutually performing complex mathematics calculations popular amongst them given their mathematical occupation. This was all before engaging in further intimate acts instigated initially by Jane again within his room according to him. At some point feeling it too fast-paced however he called it off and she subsided to a deep sleep soon after. He confirmed this deep sleepy state when he couldn’t wake her even at the behest of burgeoning calls from her roommate.

Her roommate later found Jane unconscious, semi-naked at John’s place. She was then taken away with John’s assistance leaving behind an unsettled atmosphere that prompted John to send an apology text message for the awkwardness of the entire situation the next morning. Jane responded stating her obliviousness about most events that transpired as well as expressing remorse over becoming excessively drunk according to court documents.

By mid-afternoon however, seven hours into their encounter aftermath, Jane had drawn conclusions over what took place preceding her extreme intoxication levels accusing him of sexual assault via text to which he offered no response.

Days after their rendezvous and following hospital tests alongside reporting him to local enforcement agencies and IU; although Police investigations resulted in no charges brought forward against him, IU pushes ahead with its internal investigation providing limited legal representation rights and a solitary opportunity to scrutinize evidence against him.

But despite being absolved of drugging allegations partly due to Jane not relinquishing her drug test results plus on admission consuming only two and half glasses of wine: John was nevertheless held accountable for sexual abuse by IU.

John pursued his lawsuit against IU culminating into a jury trial granting favor towards his appeal ultimately awarding $136,782.60 in compensation – sadly less than his accrued legal expenditure according to his attorney Jonathan Little. Little told reporters that typically he represents victims but recently has started taking cases involving false accusations made against men on academic campuses since university adjudication process usually lacks fairness in his opinion leading many women in particular at this time within IU among others go overboard with rape accusations wantonly.

Little criticized how the university spent most trial sessions dissecting its policies arguing it could honor those instead Title IX provisions. He believes their reckless nonchalance led to this defeat hoping such proceedings can be emulated, encouraging other legal luminaries to follow suit.

As breaking news, this precedent-setting verdict poses a severe critique of university-level internal investigation processes and their potential pitfalls. However, as of press time, the university has not yet issued a response in relation to inquiry requests. The topic still remains sensitive and contentious, underlining the need for due diligence and fair processes in line with the tenets of trusted news and real news.
