Prolific author of the “Harry Potter” series, JK Rowling, has once again landed in controversy for allegedly carrying out a “hate crime”. This comes as she refused to retract or apologize for her words after being reported to the police by a transgender activist. The activist accused her of hate crime after she referred to the individual, who identifies as a female, as a male.

India Willoughby, previously recognized as male but now identifying as a woman, voiced their concern during an interview with Byline News. Asserting protected characteristics under United Kingdom laws such as Equalities Act and Gender Recognition Act had been violated by Rowling’s utterances. “She knows I’m a woman; however, she calls me a man,” Willoughby expressed his disappointment.

However, Twitter intervened in this discussion and put forth that in compliance with the Equality Act, it doesn’t classify as a crime when referring to trans-identifying individuals by their biological sex – endorsing it as protected speech acknowledged on belief grounds.

Willoughby disclosed,”I’ve taken up the issue with law enforcement authorities.” Feeling sure about having conveyed offensive actions through these so-called ‘malicious communications’, he felt whether treated under hate crime legislation or not doesn’t alter its inherent offensive nature.

Willoughby sternly asserted their standpoint: that deliberately calling them or any self-identifying trans woman, a ‘man’ is grossly offending to say the least.

In response to these accusations Rowling utilized social media platform Twitter yet again for some sharp rebuttals; reminding of the Forstater ruling that defends gender-critical perspectives acknowledging them philosophical beliefs and that no corresponding law binds anyone into feigning acceptance of India being essentially seen as a ‘woman’.

Adding further continuation into the thread; Rowling made mention of advice she ignored earlier when lawyers deemed her capable of pursuing defamation against Willougby due to relentless targeting allegedly meeting harassment-related legal thresholds. She further pointed out inconsistencies in Willoughby’s stands; on matters pertaining to homophobia, racism, and immigration stance that demonstrated humanity.

She accused Willoughby of forgetting that he too had earlier referred to a fellow trans woman as a man publicly on Twitter. She expressed her firm belief in India essentially presenting an instance of the archetypal male narcissist living in perpetual outrage unable to persuade women around him for accepting his personal assessment.

JK Rowling also put forth her intention to instruct law enforcement agencies about India being an exemplar of male narcissism, reflecting she is well aware it is illegal to provide fabricated information or lies to such authorities.

Known for her strong feminist stand, JK Rowling has become a prominent detractor of extreme transgender activism ever since she faced backlash for mocking the phrase “people who menstruate” back in 2020. Despite aligning with leftist views overall, she staunchly withheld consensus from narratives positioning trans-identifying males as women which consequently invited criticism and labelings as TERF (Trans-exclusive radical feminist) onto her persona.
