Former U.S. President Donald Trump recently urged his fellow Republicans to lend their support to the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act, legislation designed to make it mandatory for voters to verify their U.S citizenship prior to registering for federal elections. This appeal comes against the backdrop of the bill potentially going up for a vote in the House this week.
