In a recent report, a conservative watchdog group has outlined 14 essential measures that should be employed for the sake of ensuring secure voting in the upcoming critical 2024 election cycle. Notably, one of the pivotal proposals includes serious action against foreign funding of elections.

The Director of Honest Elections Project, Jason Snead, gave credit to numerous red states for working diligently since 2020 towards enhancing election integrity. However, he pointed out lingering issues that still need attention from authorities such as the unchecked influx of foreign funds into state-wide ballot races. “For voters in red states, there’s noticeable progress compared to the state of affairs in 2020”, said Snead. He further emphasized growing enthusiasm among Conservatives for rectifying loopholes in existing voting laws.

The report shone light on a significant concern regarding how foreign financial assistance could influence state ballot policies with vast policy implications. Generally speaking, federal and state laws prohibit receiving foreign donations for individual candidates and their campaigns; however, these laws usually do not regulate ballot measures adequately.

Left-wing organizations such as the 1630 Fund are criticized for pouring vast sums into ballot campaign measures while also accepting considerable donations from foreign entities including individuals such as Hansjörg Wyss. Some reports indicate that non-profit foundations tied to Wyss have invested nearly $475 million while influencing U.S politics.

Snead raised concerns about what he perceived as an irony: “It’s intriguing to see how vocal the Left has been against foreign interference while becoming overly reliant on foreign funds at the same time. Today’s scenario shows them utilizing these resources to revise election laws drastically and pave ways aligning primarily with their partisan interests.”

In his statement, Snead acknowledged Republican efforts in Ohio seeking to ban international money usage in state ballot initiatives alluding to ‘dark money’ being used for embedding abortion-related matters into their constitution- some suspect this funding may lead back to Wyss.

Snead also stressed the need for skepticism towards replacing traditional partisan primary elections with ranked-choice voting and utilizing it in general elections. The report states that ranked-choice voting adds layers of complexity to the voting process, making it demanding both for voters and for comprehending election results ultimately leading people to question the credibility of the system.

Snead warned against an ongoing national campaign – backed by left-leaning mega-donors- aiming at transforming the electoral system fundamentally. “Ranked-choice voting seems to be designed purposely to disadvantage conservatives, inclining politics predominantly towards Left tendencies,” he remarked.
