Renowned radio host Charlamagne Tha God has openly criticized diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives in workplaces, branding them as “garbage”. Appearing as a guest host on ‘The Daily Show’, the presenter put forth his argument that DEI does not substantially aid racial minorities. This viewpoint was underscored by the presentation of advertisements from major corporations like Heinz, Vaseline, and General Mills that proudly exhibited their DEI initiatives.

Charlamagne Tha God – real name Lenard McKelvey – expressed his candid view: “Although well-intentioned, DEI is mostly garbage. It’s similar to the black little mermaid; just because racists loathe it doesn’t imply it’s good.” He supplemented this statement further by surmising that anyone who has attended a diversity training session would likely agree with his assessment.

Furthermore, he referenced studies to fortify his stance. “Over 900 studies have shown that DEI programs don’t improve the workplace for minorities. On the contrary, it can exacerbate issues due to the backlash effect.”

According to McKelvey, one of DEI’s most pronounced shortcomings is its inability to increase the proportion of black individuals in positions of power within large corporations over recent years. In many ways, it seems that DEI strategies have only managed to facilitate open racism instead of countering it.

Charlamagne Tha God stirred attention last year when he appealed to President Joe Biden not to contest for a second term, a move he labeled as potentially the “ultimate Christmas gift” for America. He argued that another contender should be brought forward to counter former President Donald Trump, expressing skepticism about Biden’s likelihood of success against his predecessor.
