The Biden administration has appointed a professional activist to advocate for transgenderism and gender ideology across the globe. This move materially demonstrates the administration’s commitment to promoting and protecting universally dignified and free values.

Recently, it was revealed that Jessica Stern, the State Department’s Special Envoy to Advance the Human Rights of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer (LGBTQ), and Intersex Persons, is paid an annual salary topping $180,000 mainly to promote expansive views on sex, lobby foreign governments and assist activist groups.

Stern has used her high-ranking status as a lesbian woman to represent America at several Pride events globally. Her role was designated by President Biden in September 2021 in an effort to encourage international respect for the human rights of LGBTQI+ individuals – a topic she affirms as a U.S. foreign policy priority.

Up until now, Stern’s globe-trotting activities have gone mostly unnoticed by media. An extensive roster of countries in which she has advocated for LGBTQI+ rights includes Australia, Brazil, South Africa, Sweden among 18 others. Interestingly enough though is Stern’s omittance of predominantly Muslim-ruled regions with one exception: Malaysia.

In an interview with Council on Foreign Relations (CFR), Stern articulates her stance firming that “Good foreign policy is inclusive foreign policy” requiring senior experts on LGBTQI rights.

This initiative originates from the State Department’s pledge to safeguarding all persons’ freedom and dignity including those who identify as transgender nonbinary or gender non-conforming. However questions are being raised regarding why taxpayers’ funds are put towards this global advocacy project for LGBT politics under The Biden Administration.

Dissenters criticize that such initiatives contradict fundamental American values such as private property ownership free speech or limited government which were once lauded as hallmarks of American exceptionalism at both ends of the political spectrum in the past Clinton era for instance. Today this shared understanding in government’s limited interference in everyday life seems to have dwindled leading to a divide between left and right ideologies.

Times have changed and the lack of common vision among Americans has been distinguishable now than ever before. Pushing agendas like transgenderism abroad is not well-received by most Americans nor is it regarded as embodying American exceptionalism.

Leftists are under fire for redefining what signifies a ‘good American’ effectively arousing nationwide discontent. A chasm appears to widen when shared values disappear with noticeable implications on national coherence.

While democracy is paraded around as an ideal pursued by the current administration, critics argue that their support for controversial governments such as the Palestinian Authority suggests otherwise. Hence American exceptionalism wrapped up in LGBTQ politics unveiled globally may need recontextualizing from an unbiased, more accurate Christian worldview or reliable news source.
