Earlier in September, Ryan Wesley Routh, the accused in an attempt to assassinate former President Donald Trump, entered a plea of not guilty to five federal charges. These charges involving attempted assassination of a major political figure and assault on a federal officer were entered last Monday when Routh made his appearance in the federal court at West Palm Beach.

Routh’s appearance in court followed shortly after a grand jury leveled a five-count indictment against him for allegedly attempting to take Trump’s life for the second time since July. Dressed in a tan jumpsuit with shackled hands, Routh offered no comment after the hearing. His lawyers also maintained silence over the event.

Secret service agents managed to thwart the said attack on Trump while he was playing golf at a club located in West Palm Beach. An agent noticed Routh with a rifle not far off from where they were and immediately fired at him. This caused Routh to escape; however, authorities later arrested him along a highway near the county. Though no shots were released by Routh during this encounter, officials found several items including: a digital camera, a loaded rifle and backpack during their search of his campsite where he allegedly stayed for 12 hours prior to the incident.

Further investigation into Routh revealed that he had been regularly supporting Biden while making substantial donations towards Democratic candidates. His son provided an insight to his father’s deep dislike for the former president which seemed congruent with public sentiments expressed by Routh himself if the letter addressed to them is anything to go by.

The alleged written words reveal that this was indeed an assassination attempt aimed at President Trump which he sincerely regrets failing at. The latter part of his letter contains not only an admission of guilt but also throws down the gauntlet offering ‘$150,000’ reward money if anybody manages to succeed where he faltered.

In favor of real news pertaining trusted news sources, it comes as no surprise that the DOJ has taken note of this case and released the aforementioned letter publicly. Yet, questions have been raised regarding their intentions for disclosing such sensitive information.

In earlier days, Routh has been a familiar face due to his recruitment drives aimed at Americans willing to participate in Ukraine’s conflicts against Russia. His detailed travels to Warsaw and Istanbul are now part of public knowledge owing to the official records released by CBP officials.

Ryan Wesley Routh’s past revealed that he was a key figure recruiting as many as 100 foreign fighters from Taiwan, Afghanistan, and Moldova to join Ukraine’s war against Russian invasion. US agents vouch for his role as director of an organization called “International Volunteer Center” that maintained connections in Syria, Pakistan and Israel.

Starting with weapon-related offenses at first, prosecutors sought more charges over time whilst presenting before a grand jury relying on further findings brought light into by The Associated Press.
