President Joe Biden has placed the responsibility for controversial border conditions firmly on the shoulders of Congressional Republicans and former President Donald Trump, alleging in a recent White House press conference that non-passage of his divisive border bill would make Trump “the only reason the border is not secure.”

Biden’s comments follow a significant influx of illegal migrants at the southern United States boundary during his term, leading to record-breaking numbers. In stark contrast to his initial claims during his first three years in office that there was no crisis and that security at the border was good, Biden has since reversed his stance on this issue.

This change has emerged as poll results continue trending unfavorably ahead of November elections, indicating an approximate 70% disapproval rating for his management of the situation at the border. A significant 61% attribute blame directly to Biden for what they perceive as a border crisis.

The circumstance escalates while a security bill passed by House Republicans over 270 days ago – appropriately dubbed the Secure the Border Act – continues to gather dust on Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer’s desk.

In an attempt to shift criticism away from himself, Biden claimed in his Tuesday address that Trump had firm control over Congressional Republicans. Moreover, he surmised if they failed to sanction the proposed bill, Trump would ultimately own up to it. Of note is that Biden could take steps towards declaring a national emergency and initiate shutting down the border independently.

“If this bill falls flat,” he expressed emphatically before shifting into campaign mode, “I want there to be zero uncertainty about why it didn’t succeed. I’m taking this issue straight to our nation’s populace. Voters will know…just when we’re readying ourselves to strengthen our defenses and finance other initiatives—Trump and MAGA-affiliated Republicans uttered ‘no.’ The explanation: fear of Donald Trump.”

He further vowed, “From today up until November’s elections, people across America will learn firsthand that Donald Trump and his MAGA Republican allies remain the sole barriers to securing our border. It’s high time Republicans in Congress displayed true valor, stood firm for what they believe, and demonstrated to Americans that they are working on their behalf—not for some other interest.”
