Formed under the guidance of Lisa Jacob, CACN’s North Texas Organizer and former pastor, the campaign aims to educate residents on the harmful implications of Christian nationalism. Cognizant that Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex ranks high within large U.S. metro areas for its Christian population percentage – housing some oversized churches – Jacob stresses the need for action in this region. Her responsibilities encompass rallying mindful citizens to contest possible bills posing predicaments against safeguarding rights for religious minorities.

Jacob’s plans focus on countering recently implemented state laws permitting public school chaplains to lend counseling support alongside school counselors. As an Indian-American first-gen Texan and previous pastor at Gateway Community Church in Austin and Irving Bible Church, her teachings spotlight issues related to social justice.

Though debates persist surrounding what constitutes Christian nationalism, it can be seen how oppositional narratives have painted the recent rise as politically targeted scheming. In fact, data from a 2022 Pew Research poll illuminates discrepancies in interpretation; 31% admitted unfamiliarity with its meaning while an alternative 21% regarded it negatively associating bigotry amongst other negative connotations.

Regardless of viewpoints casting CACN’s actions either favorably or disparagingly, it’s evident that their mission is to resist the oppression of governmental favoritism towards a single religion.
