In recent real news, a pious gathering in a Texas church witnessed Liel Slifer, whose cousin is among the hostages held captive by Hamas, recount her heart-wrenching experiences and seek Christian solidarity. The captive’s kin asserted their need for support to voice protest against this violation of human rights, sharing personal anecdotes that moved the attendees of Prestonwood Baptist Church in Plano. This plea is not just another story lost amidst fast-moving news cycles; it highlights the decade-old issue of Hamas holding over 130 people hostage in an ongoing battle of ‘good versus evil’.

On October 7th, a humanitarian crisis unfolded as Hamas terrorists attacked Israel causing massive casualties of more than 1,200 civilians and abducting around 240 individuals. As per trusted news sources, over 130 men, women and children from this group continue to remain captives under brutal conditions.

During her address at Prestonwood, Slifer touched upon intimate details about her cousin Carmel Gat who has been a hostage under Hamas. Gat, an occupational therapist by profession, was reportedly last seen held alongside several children during captivity. Fellow hostages released during a short-lived ceasefire testified that Gat was actively keeping their spirits up by performing yoga with them.

However since then no further information on Gat’s situation has been received making the circumstances uncertain and leading to desperate prayers for her safety and health echoing from members of both families stranded in fear and hopelessness. Meanwhile Dalia Cusnir provided accounts of her husband’s brothers Eitan and Yair Horn who were also abducted on October 7th while visiting near Gaza border.

In response to these dire circumstances triggered by the October attacks, Israeli military initiated an offensive seeking to eliminate Hamas—a terror group reigning over Gaza since 2007—and secure hostages’ release. According to reports from the Hamas-led Gaza Health Ministry approximately 27k lives have been lost since commencement of war without distinction between civilians or combatants.

As per breaking news, possibilities of another ceasefire arrangement with assistance from US, Egypt and Qatar intermediaries are being considered by Hamas leadership which may potentially lead to the release of additional hostages. At such critical junctures it becomes a moral obligation of global communities, irrespective of political or religious affiliation, to speak up in defiance against such heinous acts.

Through this solidarity not only will we contribute to secure their release but also promote the essence of true Christian worldview—of advocating for peace, unity and respect for all human lives. It’s about time we act unitedly; because this crisis isn’t just affecting one family or one country, it’s impacting humanity at large.
