Prominent biologist Colin Wright, who has a Ph.D., is publicly challenging the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) to engage in a debate on the subject of what SPLC tags “anti-LGBTQ+ pseudoscience,” with a particular focus on issues revolving around transgender people.

The SPLC recently published a mammoth 41,000-word report alleging that “the controversy over trans health care is manufactured to reinforce both white supremacy and the political goals of the Christian Right.” The report claims to unmask “anti-LGBTQ+ pseudoscience,” but it appears to elude addressing head-on the concerns raised by critics of the transgender movement.

In this report, Colin Wright, an esteemed fellow of Manhattan Institute is cited as part of the group endorsing such ‘pseudoscience.’ Wright retorts that initiating a response to such allegations seems redundant. He criticizes the quality of the document referring to it as poor and filled with typographical errors. Wright finds their accusations baseless due to it being devoid of any substantial engagement with his arguments or those offered by others mentioned in the report.

With deep conviction he described the report as utterly absurd stating that its sole intent lies in stirring outrage and seeking attention. However, he expressed willingness for open dialogue with anyone from SPLC about his standpoints if they believe him to be propagating ‘pseudoscience’. He insisted on breaking down these stereotypes under public scrutiny, inviting them to have an open conversation moderated by someone of their choice.

Wright shared his experiences where he was marginalized by academia for daringly questioning gender ideology. He points out at concerted efforts from activists from various humanities disciplines including queer theory working fervently towards obscuring clear definitions about males and females.

Wright cautions against consequences society could face when fundamental aspects of our biology are denied. He dismisses claims imposing him as pushing “Christian Right” ideology mentioning about his past debates for evolution against many whom SPLC suggests he is supporting. He comments on the thought of aligning body sex with mind sex using hormones and surgeries as regressive, anti-scientific and horrific.

While not opposed to adults indulging in cosmetic surgeries, Wright distinguishes ‘gender-affirming care’ as something far more risky being covered by insurance as if it’s life-saving. Talking about SPLC becoming a tyrant of left ideology, Wright refers to its infamous ‘hate map’ which categorizes conservative Christian groups among others against its leftist agenda along with Klan chapters.

The education arm of SPLC, earlier known as ‘Teaching Tolerance,’ now retitled as ‘Learning for Justice’, has long been advocating lessons on transgender identity even for preschoolers. With the ongoing debate receiving varying opinions from the public, further engagements can only tell what the future holds for Dr. Colin Wright and his viewpoints based on a Christian Worldview.
