In a conversation at the World Economic Forum’s annual meeting in Davos, Switzerland, Jamie Dimon – CEO of JPMorgan Chase – made his opinions known regarding why supporters choose to vote for Donald Trump. In this frank discussion, he pointed out that Trump was right on important issues and criticized Democrats for scapegoating these Trump voters.

While participating in CNBC’s “Squawk Box” panel, Dimon was asked about the potential impact of the economy on the 2024 presidential election. His view on the future of U.S. economy is less than optimistic, citing a number of problems America will face in upcoming years.

Dimon also addressed how Democrats are focusing their efforts against Trump supporters – who make up nearly 75 million voters from the 2020 election – forming the backbone of their 2024 political campaign. He stated his desire for Democrats to rethink their approach to these voters and stop labeling or scapegoating them due to their affinity towards Trump.

Dimon argued that it’s not so much about allegiance towards Trump as an individual or his family values but rather agreement with his perspective on pressing topics such as NATO, immigration, tax reforms, economic growth, and China. Demonstrating respectfulness towards those associated with MAGA – Make America Great Again – should be more prevalent according to him since they form a significant demographic.

Known for having close ties with former President Barack Obama, Dimon had once considered running against Trump himself back in 2020. This led to tension between himself and Trump but despite past disagreements, he has recognized and acknowledged that some of the policies implemented by Trump were beneficial.

He voiced concern over Democrats belittling those who supported Trump in recent years reminding us all that these people have sound reasons for voting as they do. Dimon specifically referred back to 2016 when Hillary Clinton labeled these supporters as ‘deplorables’. In looking forward to Biden’s re-election campaign, he suggested that a more respectful and understanding approach towards MAGA supporters might be more beneficial.
