Ohio’s Republican Governor Mike DeWine has signed an “emergency” executive order banning transgender surgeries for minors. This development comes a week after he vetoed a similar bill known as House Bill 68, the Enact Ohio Saving Adolescents from Experimentation Act.

The initial bill not only sought to ban gender-reassignment operations for minors but also aimed to inhibit the prescription of cross-sex hormones or puberty blockers intended for gender transition. Additionally, it would have allowed students to sue if they felt deprived of a level playing field in sports due to gender activism.
