According to the statement, “The US Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyer USS CARNEY (DDG 64), operating in the Red Sea, successfully engaged 14 unmanned aerial systems launched as a drone wave from Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen.”

These unmanned assault machines were determined to be programmed for one-way attack missions and were efficiently eliminated by defensive measures. There were no reported damages incurred by any regional watercraft or casualties among relevant personnel as a direct result.

This is far from an isolated occurrence – it’s not the first instance American marine forces have faced aggression from areas under Houthi control in Yemen.
