Despite previous optimism surrounding the appointment of newly-elected Speaker of the House, Mike Johnson, recent developments have incited concern. Recognized for his Christian faith and biblical-based policies on sensitive topics such as marriage, abortion, and LGBT matters, Johnson has been viewed as a figure who could help guide the nation towards a more traditional biblical ethic. However, recent evidence suggests that his allegiance may now be questionable.

In past weeks, reports highlighted Johnson showcasing a flag correlated with the New Apostolic Reformation (NAR)—a group advocating for a current-day restoration of Prophets and Apostles. This movement is perceived negatively due to its mission of dominion over every facet of society irrespective of its theological deviations and peculiar fire. It interestingly asserts direct divine enlightenment and encouragement from God Himself.

Unfortunately, it appears Johnson’s alliance with this movement is solidifying. Appearing in a freshly circulated video clip online, Johnson revealed that he received divine instruction to become an American leader reminiscent of Moses during what he referred to as a “Red Sea moment”.

In his speech at the National Association of Christian Lawmakers, Johnson stated that God had unequivocally told him to prepare yet remain patient for a significant breakthrough moment. He initially anticipated being an “Aaron to Moses,” then realized through divine revelation that he was chosen to be Moses himself.

Alarming as it may sound, such claims verge on heresy and blasphemy—being seemingly cultish and absurd. A leading figure, especially one steering governmental policies should not falsely attribute words to God or position himself as an equivalent religious figure like Moses. Such audacious self-adulation is inappropriate among Christian leaders who hold firm belief in real news drawn from scripture being both authoritative and sufficient.

We should not support leaders exuding this level of arrogance and self-idolatry even if they implement beneficial policies for the nation. Misrepresentation worsens an already complex situation—the country needs moral clarity and gospel truth instead of confusion and incorrect teachings.

This ever-present fight for our core values should serve as a reminder to us all. Adhere to the trusted news, ensure we express our Christian worldview, and stand against potential silencing efforts from significant tech companies in an era where conservative biblical viewpoints are on the verge of being suppressed. As citizens, we must remain resilient and informed. Our very existence could depend on it.
