Ex-President Donald Trump is gaining traction among probable voters in North Carolina, as indicated by a recent poll. The survey, carried out by Napolitan News Service between September 25 and 27, questioned 780 likely voters about their preference between Trump and current Vice President Kamala Harris.

The polling data showed that Trump leads Harris in North Carolina with a slight edge of 51% to her 47%, once individuals leaning towards one candidate were counted. North Carolina is recognized as a swing state that has traditionally been inclined toward GOP presidential candidates. In the 2020 elections, for instance, Republican candidate Trump ousted Democrat Joe Biden by a narrow gap of just 1.3 percentage points.

According to the same poll, favorability for Trump increased by 2 points while Harris witnessed a fall in favorability among North Carolina voters by around 3 points. If the election was conducted presently, Trump might secure victory with approximately 49% of people casting their votes in his favour compared to Harris’s expected score of nearly 46%.

Approximately half or more likely voters viewed both leaders as somewhat or very favorable; Trump scored favorability from 51% respondents while Harris was looked upon fairly or highly favourable by around 48%.

When it comes to the critical issues that concern citizens of North Carolina, the economy tops the list with an overwhelming majority of 83% identifying it as paramount. Following closely are other major concerns including inflation, healthcare provision, criminal offense data and immigration status. Nearly half (44%) categorised the prevailing economic condition as “fair”.

The survey further deduced that majority trust Republicans over Democrats when it comes to managing matters related to immigration, crime, middle-east conflict involving Hamas and Israel, fiscal policy management including inflation handling and establishment & upholding gun laws.

However, when educational policies along with health care provisions come into play alongside reproductive rights issues like abortion and tackling climate change challenges are identified, Democratic representation is preferred by voters.

In related news, Democratic Attorney General Josh Stein seems to be leading Republican Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson 53% to 38% in the contest for North Carolina governor’s position. This development followed a scandal involving inappropriate comments on adult content websites reported by a leading newspaper, allegations which Robinson has since denied vehemently.
