The stark reality of a deeply changing America is becoming unavoidably evident. As we navigate through these changing times, it’s reminiscent of the profound words uttered by theologian John Calvin, “When God wants to judge a nation, He gives them wicked rulers.” This quote reflects the current state of affairs in America as our nation bears witness to leaders who embody wickedness rather than righteousness. Trusted news sources have amplified this harsh reality that we are governed by leaders irrespective of their political affiliations—Democrats or Republicans—who don’t epitomize virtuous qualities but exemplify wickedness in its purest form.

With shifting global dynamics and uncertainties, there’s no other “greatest country in the world” where Americans could seek refuge. Jeremiah 23:19 portrays this scenario aptly: “See, the storm of the LORD will burst out in wrath, a whirlwind swirling down on the heads of the wicked.” The impending whirlwind of divine judgment appears to loom large over our country.

Unbelievably, some Christian leaders are painting Democrats as morally superior to Republicans. A party drenched in scandal and fostering immorality is now expectedly leading us directly into God’s wrathful judgment with churches slowly aligning with them under misconstrued notions of love and compassion. These leaders have conveniently turned a blind eye towards heinous atrocities such as abortion while openly endorsing debauchery. According to Isaiah 5:20, they are guilty of calling evil good and good evil.

As expected from real news outlets, it’s vital to point out that both parties share attribute for this transformation. Republican party used to uphold sanctity for life as part of their platform but recently during Vice Presidential debates between JD Vance and Tim Walz that commitment seemed elusive as equivocal language on respect for differing views was preferred over unequivocal condemnation of abortion as tantamount to murder.

Not only has the stance pertaining to abortion shifted significantly amongst Republicans, but much to the chagrin of devout Christians, they have also begun accepting openly the modern LGBTQ movement. Romans 1 describes embracing such worldviews as a sign of God’s judgment on those who have turned their backs on Him.

American leaders from both sides seem blind-folded while they quibble over policies and rights disregarding the essence of morality which isn’t subject to public opinion. They preach freedom which in actuality is an empty promise for unrestrained sinning. The marvel is that they pat themselves on the back for alleged moderation and compassion with blood stains on their hands due to wanton annihilation of unborn lives coupled with lies about human nature and sexuality.

This somber reflection leaves one pondering about the root cause of such systemic corruption wherein wickedness seems pervasive within society leading to similar kind from its leaders as captured by Hosea 8:7, “They sow the wind and reap the whirlwind”. Our political discourse has seemingly become grand theatrics with promises of hope and change culminating into despair and ruin.

Therefore it becomes paramount to question where can we look for leadership when both parties are seemingly steering us directly into divine judgement. And how do we find hope when our purported conservative leaders are relenting on God’s fundamental laws?

In conclusion, from a Christian worldview this alarming state of affairs suggests that America is experiencing divine judgment through its choice of godless ideologies over adherence to religious beliefs, manipulation of basic moral principles, coupled with acclaim for human wisdom over God’s wisdom.
