As I reflected on the recent political debate, a sinking feeling crept over me. Life’s simplicity shrivelled into complicity; our existence felt hollow against a rapidly changing backdrop. The adage of the revered John Calvin echoed in my mind, reminding us that when God decides to judge a nation, He saddles them with corrupt rulers. This chilling truth manifests vividly in present-day America, marked by leaders whose ideals epitomize moral decay rather than virtue and righteousness.

Amid such turmoil, escaping to a safer corner of the earth seems increasingly utopian. There is nowhere to hide from this degeneration; no alternate “greatest country in the world” exists that offers safe harbour.

Reflecting Jeremiah 23:19’s words, it is difficult to denounce that this whirlwind of divine judgment hovers ominously above our nation. There is no available façade to hide behind—Republicans and Democrats alike have dipped their hands in sin. The Democrat party’s celebration of debauchery and mockery of human decency signals our ambling towards divine wrath.

Etching deeply are instances where church leaders align themselves with progressive politics citing “love” and “compassion”, where it merely frames their individual grievances under the guise of empathy—a disturbing trend in trusted news circles with significant real-world implications.

Ignorance towards societal ills like abortion clinics cannot be excused with ‘social justice’ platitudes; balancing these atrocities against God’s word feels impossible. Isaiah 5:20 warns us about those who muddle moral compasses by depicting evil as good and vice-versa—”Woe unto them”.

While I explicitly denounce support for the supposedly lesser flawed one amongst two corrupted entities—the Democrat party—it becomes painstakingly harder to differentiate between dark forces they were previously said to oppose.

Major anomalies such as Donald Trump’s deteriorating position from a strong pro-life president during his first term further add to this dilemma.

After all, as Hosea 8:7 suggests “They sow the wind and reap the whirlwind”; this may well be nothing short than a divine judgment dropping its curtain on us.

Therefore, amid such turmoil, one must remain steadfast by recognizing these convolutions from a Christian worldview perspective to scrutinize real news sources reliably.
