This week, Yemen’s Iranian-supported Houthi terrorists launched numerous missiles and drones targeting U.S. Navy vessels in response to the Israeli assassination of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah via an airstrike last Friday. This incident underscores the increasingly volatile situation in the Middle East and Israel’s role within it.

According to Lucas Tomlinson, a prominent defense correspondent, “Three U.S. Navy warships neutralized nearly two dozen incoming missiles and drones propelled by Iran’s opposition forces in Yemen earlier today while navigating through the constricted gateway to the Red Sea.”

These attacks failed to land as all projectiles were successfully intercepted or missed their targets. No U.S. ships sustained damage and no sailors were injured in these engagements.

Tomlinson elaborated on the incident by saying, “A pair of guided-missile destroyers, namely USS Stockdale and USS Spruance, along with a littoral combat ship, USS Indianapolis, were negotiating a course through Bab al-Mandab Strait when they faced incoming ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and drones.”

Over recent months, these Houthi attacks have become commonplace; US warships have been targeted dozens of times over America’s staunch support for Israel in light of Hamas’ terrorist attack last October 7th.

Speaking on this issue, Senator Roger Wicker (R-MI) declared the incident an undeniable act of war executed by Iran’s Islamic Republic.

He further stated that “Today’s Iranian-backed terrorist assault on American Navy ships signifies nothing less than an act of war. The Biden-Harris administration’s ongoing efforts to ‘play defense’ in the Red Sea has categorically failed,” he exclaimed. “It is high time for decisive actions against Houthis and demonstrate globally what happens following an assault on the United States.”
