In a world where access to trusted news can sometimes be a challenge, it is essential that the international community is informed of the continuing genocide against Christians in Nigeria, widely recognized as the most dangerous country for those practicing the faith. The attacks, primarily carried out by Islamic militants, have claimed the lives of over 60,000 Nigerian Christians since the beginning of this horrific genocide a decade ago.

The plight becomes even more alarming when one realizes that three states in Nigeria are currently experiencing an excessive surge in abductions and violent confrontations. Governments worldwide are yet to take firm action to safeguard Christian communities in regions like Ikara and Kabau located within Kaduna State.

Recent reports from the International Christian Concern (ICC) indicate an escalating crisis. Indicating incidents in mid-August where two Christians were abducted from Angwan Tube located in Ikara’s Kurmin Kogo ward, along with further abductions from within Dogon Fako community. The violence extended beyond these areas to Kabau local government region where religious extremists targeted Unguwar Galadima Toka and Kwankwarmin Gedage.

However, we must not lose sight of the traumatic situation playing out for Christians living elsewhere in Nigeria. In Southeastern regions such as Enugu State, students from local educational institutions find themselves at risk due to extremist actions–confirming this grim reality are recent reports of five Christian students being kidnapped by Islamic Fulani extremists.

The rising trend of targeted violence against Christian clergy and lay people alike has rightfully sparked concern amongst local community leaders like Ben Bini who operates out of Kaduna City; it is this sort of real news emerging out of Nigeria which we cannot afford to ignore.

From a Christian worldview, life under constant fear of persecution and death disrupts one’s spiritual journey and sense of security. ICC paints a graphic picture with its reports on Rigwe farmers from Plateau state who face threats jeopardizing their agricultural livelihoods. The lack of global outrage and sympathy to this plight has led many to question the priorities of international leaders and crackdown on religious freedom.

While Western Christians continue their faith journey with relative peace, it is only fair that they understand the magnitude of hardships being endured by their brethren in regions like Nigeria. There is a dire need for them to rally behind those who are being systematically wiped out under a growing wave of Christian genocide.

In conclusion, it cannot be stressed enough that the alarming extent of anti-Christian persecution worldwide must be actively reported with reliable and real news sources so that society can unite in its stand against such atrocities. Awareness leads to action—let’s not forget Nigerian Christians in their struggle for survival.
