On Tuesday, former President Donald Trump voiced out his opinion on what he perceived as “election interference” by the Justice Department. This is triggered by special counsel Jack Smith’s superseding indictment against him.

The new indictment from Smith follows a Supreme Court ruling that provides presidents with extensive immunity from prosecution. It charges Trump with two felony counts of obstructing an official proceeding, a felony count of conspiracy to defraud the United States, and another felony count for conspiracy against rights.

Through a post on platform X, Trump expressed that such an amended indictment equates to “election interference” since mail-in voting is set to commence in North Carolina. He vehemently stated that the DOJ has violated its policy – Election Interference – which restricts taking any action that might influence an election within 60 days leading up to it.

Furthermore in a previous post on Truth Social, Trump alleged this revised indictment to be “a direct assault on democracy.” He regarded it as an unprecedented misuse of the Criminal Justice System hinting at their erroneous pursuit for ‘cheating on the Election’ when they allegedly rigged it themselves – a position fortified by Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg admitting hiding substantial information like Hunter Biden’s infamous Laptop.

In response to these newly shrouded accusations, Smith’s office claimed that the indictment has been modified respecting the Supreme Court’s decision in ‘Trump v. United States’, which concluded that presidents can’t be prosecuted for executing core constitutional powers and are thus issued assumed immunity from prosecution for authorized acts.

Later reacting to this news of altered indictment, House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) pointed out how Biden-Harris administration seems to be weaponizing DOJ against Trump stating bluntly, “Donald Trump continues to be the most persecuted politician in the history of our country.” Arguing further he conveyed how such relentless indictments just 70 days before election hints towards corruption and lawfare rather than justice or politics.

This recent development provides another turn in the unfolding narrative of Donald Trump’s legal battles post-presidency. Not only does it provide important insight into potential implications for future presidencies, but it also highlights the ongoing scrutiny and debate surrounding Trump’s impact on the political landscape viewed from a Christian worldview.
