“Ex-President Duterte Criticizes Police Operation against Controversial Televangelist Wanted for Child Abuse and Human Trafficking Charges”

Former Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte has criticized Philippine National Police leaders following a raid on the 74-acre compound of televangelist and leader of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ, Apollo Quiboloy. Approximately 2,000 officers were involved in attempting to apprehend the preacher who faces charges relating to child abuse and human trafficking – allegations he and his fervent followers have refuted.

Quiboloy also features on the FBI’s Most Wanted list on similar charges including conspiracy to indulge in sex trafficking forcibly through deceit, and more alarmingly, child sex trafficking. The influential pastor continues to elude capture, as his loyal members wage public protests, amassing more charges while they strive to impede his arrest. Tragically, one supporter reportedly lost their life during the police operation with several others sustaining injuries.

The ex-Philippine president put out a statement over the weekend voicing sympathy for those affiliated with KOJC who had been subject to political persecution and abuse of authority. Duterte expressed disdain over these unjust actions casting a gloomy cloud over those orchestrating today’s incident which was led by the top law enforcement official of the region.

During Monday’s tumultuous protest in Davao City outside their compound, 18 members from Kingdom Of Jesus Christ Church were apprehended. Lead attorney for Quiboloy, Ferdinand Topacio disclosed that they may lodge a human rights complaint with the United Nations regarding this matter highlighting that they feel they are being subjected to “virtual dictatorship”.

Strikingly Dante is currently managing the church’s frozen assets then went on record stating that police “ forced their way” onto church property resulting in an unfortunate fatality despite police officials claiming the fatality was fatigue-related.

In 2021 Quiboloy along with two high-ranking administrators had been indicted by US Department of Justice on charges which included trafficking young women and minor girls within U.S borders who were blackmailed into sexual activities under threat of eternal damnation. The infamous pastor professed that such sexual liaisons with him were divinely sanctioned and they should perceive it as privileged women.

Quiboloy, a former member of the United Pentecostal Church, claims to have an overwhelming 4 million tithing followers in the Philippines along with an additional 2 million followers across seas. He founded his Restorationist church in 1985 post receiving divine instructions from God which reportedly came after his birth when a cloud in the shape of God told his mother “That’s my son.” As per Asia Times, The televangelist now stands accused alongside his two administrators whilst he continues to reach about 600 million viewers worldwide via his global television network making this breaking news on trusted news channels around the world with a focus on Christian worldview.
