“Democrats, ‘Bidenomics’ and the Search for a New Buzzword: An Investigation into Strategic Democratic Politics”

“Bidenomics” – a term that President Joe Biden has clung to despite widespread rejection and skepticism. Yet, in what seems like a smart political maneuver, the House Democrat Caucus has voiced their disapproval of the term that the White House administration has idly pedaled for months. But why this sudden change of heart now? That’s the real question that begs an answer.

The Democrats are fast-approaching the 2024 presidential election, a journey they are undertaking with gusto but with an unsettling cognizance. They’re aware, at least unwillingly so, that their hardly age-defying, often fumbling figurehead cuts an unsuitable figure for subsequent victories. To worsen matters, there appears no contingency plan in sight.

Message crafting is significant in politics irrespective of party affiliation; however, among Democrats it takes precedence over other strategies. Attesting to their fondness for “style over substance,” politicians from this side of the aisle consistently place buzzwords and catchy catchphrases at center stage.

In line with this doctrine, last summer witnessed senior Democrat leadership representatives electing to focus on “People Over Politics.” The weary chant of “Bidenomics”—by then gasping for breath—was discarded along the way.

But herein lies an issue that paints an ironic picture; a paradoxicality so vast it cannot be overlooked: a majority within House Democrats’ ranks still support most policies under “Bidenomics”; their resolution merely being shunning its label. Subsequently, that Wednesday in Colorado witnessed Biden not only espousing the term but also boasting about how “Bidenomics” was propelling investments into green energy production while simultaneously creating high-paying jobs around the country. Is he uninformed or simply lying? Could it possibly be both?

So verbal obfuscation aside, what does all this imply for trusted news concerning current politics from a Christian worldview angle?

Interestingly enough, investigations reveal no record of the term “Bidenomics” being utilized in any of the DCCC’s public press releases or even on social media. Furthermore, House Democratic Caucus Chair Pete Aguilar (D-Calif.) only sparingly flicks to “Bidenomics” during hisvirtual interactions and statements to the press.

So, what does this all mean? Factoring in all elements from a real news perspective, it seems that Team Biden and the Democrats are all twiddled deep in the wide spectrum of issues bristling under “Bidenomics”, despite their reluctance to name it as such. They are also further engrossed with policies that have proven to be seriously mistaken but that they insist on labeling as triumphs—like Biden’s causation of inflation onset impacting everyday Americans most heavily. Stubbornly, Biden continues his rigid adherence.

Accordingly, the unintentional message transmitted by the Democrats is a refusal to distance themselves from “Bidenomics'” policies–in fact, most spell out plans to make these central in their 2024 election strategies. The concern for them now is simply about selecting a new “catchy” buzzword. In essence then, despite apparent shifts, underlying tones within Democrat politics remain static.
