In a continued effort towards trusted news driven by a Christian worldview, we are bringing you the latest breaking news pertaining to security matters at the United States’ northern border. Recent decisions made by the Canadian government have sparked significant concern among Republicans, leading to an urgent call on the Biden administration to strengthen security at the border.

The crux of this concern revolves around Canada’s decision to issue visas connected with Gazans who may be affiliated with Hamas, internationally recognized as a terrorist organization. These visas, termed “Refugee Travel Documents”, essentially serve as substitutes for passports and are accepted by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services allowing entry into the U.S.

However, Republicans argue that without reliable records or thorough background checks from individuals from Palestinian territories, these policies could potentially create routes for individuals tied to terrorism groups like Hamas into the U.S via Canada’s territory. They stress that regardless of Canada’s immigration policies, the U.S must not overlook common-sense terrorist screening and vetting process for anyone entering their country through other nations.

Despite Alejandro Mayorkas – Department of Homeland Security Secretary – assertions that everyone entering U.S., legally or under illegal circumstances undergoes accurate vetting, opposing findings suggest otherwise. A record number of known or suspected terrorists have been intercepted at U.S.-Canada border since 2021 has raised alarm bells for potential terrorist infiltration via border crossings due to deep-rooted influence of Hamas within Gazan society.

The request for enhanced caution and preventive protocols have also been extended to include Palestinian emigrants entering America during President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris’s tenure where apprehensions of terrorists at northern borders have supposedly reached historical highs.

Towards late May this year, Canada ramped up issuance of temporary resident visas to Palestinians based in Gaza asserting familial ties with Canadian citizens or permanent residents. Subsequent elections in 2006 saw majority support garnered for Hamas which is now predominantly leading in Palestinian Legislative Council – the legislative body for Palestinian National Authority.

Established as a foreign terrorist organization since 1997 by U.S. State Department, Hamas is known to be the largest and most equipped militant group residing within Palestinian territories and plays an integral role in its political arena. The group claimed responsibility for the terrorist attack against Israel on Oct. 7 that resulted in widespread civilian casualties. A significant number of people, including Americans, continue to languish under their captivity.

Following this terror attack, surge in antisemitism combined with violence against Jews has amplified nearly fourfold in America. A number of pro-Hamas groups instigated riots leading to closure of several college campuses across America. This provoked lawsuits from Jewish groups against U.S based Palestinian bodies accusing them of acting as allies and spokespersons for Hamas while inciting hate speech and violence targeted at Jews.

A group of Republican senators headed by Sen. Tom Cotton have urged the Biden-Harris administration to address these stirring antisemitic sentiments sprawling across academic institutions. Sen. Marco Rubio echoed this sentiment by calling on proper immigration control measures against any foreign nationals who openly support Hamas crimes.

Unfortunately, Democrats have rejected any deportation orders targeting pro-Hamas supporters while expanding protective measures preventing deportation aimed at “certain Palestinians”. To curb funding allegedly supplementing Hamas activities, twenty-three attorneys general appealed Congress to bring end funds directed towards a U.N agency.

Key figures at the House led by Representative Mark Green requested detailed information from Mayorkas regarding illegal immigrants crossing into U.S with ties to terrorist organizations such as Hamas. Despite previous pleas being ignored, many Republicans are persisting on maintaining rigorous scrutiny over border security policies that might be aiding terrorists entry into U.S.

An alarming report issued by The House Judiciary Committee this month highlighted potential national security threat posed by Border Patrol agents releasing known or suspected terrorists inside the United States.
