Over the weekend, Senator Tom Cotton (R-AR) criticized Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris for her stance on Iran, a well-recognized hub of state-sponsored terrorism. During a Sunday interview on Fox News, he pointed out flaws in her policy towards Israel following the October 7 massacre. According to him, these blunders indicate that she is not prepared enough to assume the role of commander in chief.

Expressing his disapproval, Cotton said that Harris had readily believed Hamas’ claims regarding casualties and their activities following the offensive. Notably, it was Hamas terrorist organization who had control over Gaza’s health ministry and released this information.

“In situations like these where Israel has been compelled to strike tactical sites used by Hamas – be it hospitals or schools – civilian casualties are regrettable but inevitable,” stated Cotton. He firmly placed all responsibility for such civilian losses on Hamas rather than blaming Israel for its defensive actions.

He further condemned Harris’s approach towards Israel which measured upon an unreasonable scale of pressure from both her and Joe Biden. This weight was, according to Cotton, more than what they had put on Hamas since the initial stages of the conflict.

Cotton pointed out how Harris stood alongside anti-Semites within her own party who boycotted Prime Minister Netanyahu’s address to U.S-based lawmakers last month. He exposed how she shunned her constitutional duty as senate president by declining public meetings with Netanyahu as well as refusing to preside over the joint session where he spoke.

Continuing his critique, he elaborated upon how Harris accused Israel for civilian fatalities in Gaza while showing indifference towards Iranian-supported militants causing havoc within the region. Her lackadaisical attitude encouraged more atrocities as demonstrated by a subsequent attack by Hezbollah – another Iran-backed rebel group– against Israeli civilians at a playground soon after.

Cotton highlighted that Harris was both naive and ill-equipped to shoulder duties of a commander-in-chief due to her poorly-informed views. He also criticized her unfounded allegations that blamed all civilian suffering in Gaza on Israel while disregarding Hamas’ role in provoking this situation.

In conclusion, he lambasted Harris’ presumption that it was Israel who had to withdraw from the conflict, rather than adopting a more appropriate stance of strongly standing with their ally, aiding them in their defensive war against Iran and other terrorist groups sponsored by it.
