In less than a month since the shocking assassination attempt on ex-President Donald Trump transpired, the incident continues to reverberate throughout America’s political sphere. In an unprecedented move to immortalize that moment, Bill Secunda, an artist based in Butler, Pennsylvania, used his talent to craft a masterpiece.

Secunda has categorically portrayed Donald Trump as an emblem of resilience after the former president miraculously survived a potentially lethal attack. The artist took this representation further by sculpting a life-sized effigy of Trump from nails – effectively reflecting that our former President is indeed ‘as tough as nails’. Following Trump’s defiant response post-assassination attempt, Secunda got inspired to make the sculpture. He unveiled it at the same location where the chilling event unfolded – The Butler Farm Show.

His creation sought to depict Trump with fervor and spirit while promoting non-violence and integrity. The expression “Lets fight”, but in a nonviolent manner is what Secunda wanted his creation to embody.

Interestingly, this statue was initially shaped back in 2020 portraying Trump opening his suit coat superhero-style; however, after the assassination attempt, Secunda reimagined it in its current format in commemoration of the event.

Utterly distinctive in its form and technique — standing 6-foot 3-inch high —this sculpture was entirely made from traditional cut nails typically embedded into concrete. This method has become one signature of Secunda’s artwork who said he first constructs an armature and then begins welding each nail into place —heat bending them if necessary. His artistic domain isn’t limited to this piece alone: his vast garden showcases many sculptures including life-size depictions of animals like moose, bear, bison and lion amongst others.

The depiction of Trump’s hairdo brought joy and excitement for Secunda who invested significant time researching to get it just right, ultimately using a brazing rod to weld it on there achieving the yellow finish. The inscription beneath the sculpture read: “Tough as Nails”.

The Butler Farm Show had recently put the statue on exhibition, although its future destination is currently uncertain. Secunda hopes for Trump to visit Butler again to witness this spectacular creation designed in his honor.
