As the political landscape continues to shift unpredictably, recent occurrences in U.S politics reflect the growing dominance of Vice President Kamala Harris. Political observers like Victor Davis Hanson have labeled this changing of guards a ‘coup,’ reminiscent of the 2020 primary that saw Bernie Sanders stepping back to clear the path for Joe Biden. Focused on delivering trusted news and framed by a Christian worldview, we explore this unfolding narrative.

David Samuels presents the poignant view that a shadow government exists, with Obama’s associates pulling strings behind-the-scenes at the White House. The latest development mirrors this sentiment as Harris, who didn’t win a single delegate in either 2020 or 2024 primaries, is virtually nominated without allowing the delegates to put forth their nominees.

In trying to understand these turns of events, one finds historical parallels in Democratic Party’s shifts from Franklin Delano Roosevelt (FDR) era and its transformation under leaders like Nancy Pelosi and Barack Obama. The focus seems to be on embracing “hyper progressives” like Harris who advocates for college-educated, corporate-controlled alliances built on civil rights, anti-imperialism, and identity politics.

The legacy of FDR led many to believe that he served as a beacon for workers and crafted an era flourishing middle class while debunking the dominion set by New England elites. It was thought his New Deal laid down tracks for economic growth enabling Democrats’ association with institutions such as Goldman Sachs and J.P. Morgan.

However, historical records suggest otherwise about FDR’s role. One could consider him more of a reformist during his term as New York State Senator rather than being associated closely with equating his stance with workers or ‘common man’. There’s evidence suggesting that he was focused more on political calculations based on shifting demographics than actual policymaking adjustments.

FDR has often been portrayed favorably in conventional narratives but inaccuracies are frequent in these accounts which fail to highlight his financial engagements in Wall Street as a lawyer, his investment plans for general public leaving many with significant losses, and overall approach of adopting progressive policies that were tailored mostly to serve the interests of wealthy.

Skewed views of history have justified these strategic shifts over time, which I challenge in my own work – “Debunking FDR: The Man and the Myths” (2024). It uncovers truths about Roosevelt’s policies revealing how these directly benefitted elite classes including bankers, corporate heads, and Wall Street speculators at significant cost to the working-class individual.

The New Deal represents one such policy. Contrary to popular belief that it was designed by thinkers aiming to uplift masses during the Great Depression is misleading. Instead, its architects were mainly big businesses and Wall Street elites who shaped institutional changes for their benefit rather than helping struggling American citizens.

Over time, the Democratic Party aligned itself steadily with Obama’s people establishing a shadow government forming an ‘alliance’ promoting identity politics rather than advancing democratic ideals. While we accept this reality today, remember that this consistent undermining of democracy has its roots much deeper than we can perceive at face value.

To understand today’s political developments around Kamala Harris or any other leader for that matter, we must look beyond surface narratives. And recognize how leaders manipulate party principles to suit political strategies under the guise of ‘progressivism.’ It reminds us why discerning real news from what meets the eye is more crucial now than ever before. As we brace ourselves for yet another wave of transformation under probable presidency of Harris, only time will tell whether ideals or elitist interests shape her administration.
