In a recent disturbing spectacle at the Paris Olympics opening ceremony, a drag queen reportedly satirized the Lord’s Supper. From a Christian worldview, this marks another disheartening step in our society’s moral degradation. Perhaps we’ve been blind to it, or engaged in an ongoing denial of the plummeting standards we are witnessing globally.

Used to be a time when the Olympics symbolized unity and championed fair play and camaraderie among nations. Sadly, today’s Olympics may be seen by some as promoting ungodly agendas unthinkable to Christians.

The parody presented at the Paris Olympic opening ceremony particularly assaulted Christian beliefs. It was far from being just distressing; it was a vivid illustration of brazen disregard for faith. The question then arises: Are we indirectly supporting such mockery by merely watching these events? Deserving reflection is Ephesians 5:11 which urges us not to partake in fruitless deeds of darkness but rather expose them.

Is this not symptomatic of an overarching spiritual battle? Things that were once considered sinful are nowadays often portrayed as progressive steps forward – a dangerous way Satan uses to normalize blasphemy.

The answer might be boycotting such activities or events that directly challenge our Christian values. An important element here is allegiance – Is it with Christ or with worldly structures glorifying sin? As mentioned in James 4:4, friendship with the world equates hostility with God.

Rather than tacit approval through viewership of these depictions on global media platforms like the Olympics, what if we stand affirmatively for Christ? What if we fervently uphold our Christian faith, expose immorality where we see it and wholeheartedly reject a world straying from God’s truthiness?

Turning away from things contrary to the fundamental principles of Christianity enables us to stand firm against elements perpetuating spiritual darkness. This affirmation will reflect our commitment to living according to Christ’s teachings. This is more than an option; it’s a divine calling, our sacred obligation.

Let’s be aware of the real news around us. Let us filter the information we receive – even from mainstream platforms – through our trust in God and Christian principles. Acknowledge that while society may change, the authority of Christ remains unwavering. Stand firm in truth. Reject elements diminishing Christ’s supremacy and affirm your commitment to Him. With a firm footing on trusted news validated through a Christian worldview, we will remain unswayed amidst this ever-changing world.
