Donald Trump, the former U.S president, has agreed to submit himself for an interview as part of the ongoing FBI investigation into a recent assassination attempt. This attempt targeted him during a campaign rally in Pennsylvania, as reported by Bureau officials on Monday.

Kevin Rojek, the head of the FBI’s Pittsburgh Field Office, detailed aspects of their inquiries into the incident which occurred on July 13. He avowed that they sought to gain Trump’s unique insights and observations on the attempt.

As much as investigations aim at unearthing the truth, it is standard procedure for us to interview victims of crimes and this case isn’t any different,” Rojek explained.

Throughout the course of their investigations thus far, approximately 450 interviews have been conducted. Notably among these are conversations with parents of the identified shooter who have proven extremely cooperative while expressing complete unawareness of their son’s fatal intentions.

More information concerning Thomas Matthew Crooks, identified as being 20 years old and unfortunately now deceased – following intervention by a Secret Service sniper – was shared by Rojek. The gunman, characterized as highly intelligent yet socially reclusive with few known friends apart from his immediate family members exhibited careful planning according to authorities.

Director Christopher Wray revealed last week that investigations had discovered searches related to infamous assassin Lee Harvey Oswald and President John F.Kennedy’s 1963 murder conducted on a laptop linked to Crooks. Interestingly, he made these queries about Oswald’s proximity to Kennedy when shooting him just about when he registered for Trump’s rally.

Moreover, it seems Crooks facilitated additional searches about power plants, mass shootings, explosives and even past cases such as Slovakia Prime Minister’s assassination early this year. Apparently concealing his online activities using aliases along with foreign-based encrypted email accounts; purchases were made pertaining to firearms components and crucial chemical precursors for creating explosive devices according to investigative findings from TribLIVE.

In an official release last Friday, the FBI confirmed that a bullet fired by Crooks grazed Trump’s ear during the rally held in Butler, Pennsylvania. Their statement corrected any misunderstanding from Director Wray’s previous congressional testimony suggesting that shrapnel and not a bullet hit Trump.

Further information disclosed by Wray unveils broader details about Crooks activities leading up to the incident; such as reconnaissance conducted using a drone, recovery of three explosive devices near his home among other constructions meant for his chosen weapon – a rifle fitted with a collapsible stock.

This security lapse led to the resignation of Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle, given the upheaval resulting from the attack on Trump’s rally. A supporter attending this rally named Corey Comperatore, 50-year-old firefighter lost his life in this tragic event but two others who were wounded – James Copenhaver aged 74 and David Dutch aged 57 have since been released from hospital care.

Last week, it was announced that Donald Trump plans to honor Comperatore along with Copenhaver and Dutch at yet another Butler-based rally following these shocking events.
