Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg publicly acknowledged the state of President Joe Biden’s health and performance during an interview on a Sunday news show. This discussion was prompted by the president recently bringing his re-election campaign to a close.

Further adding fuel to these disputed claims was an unnamed Cabinet member who stated they occasionally saw Biden—potentially pointing towards their own unawareness about how he was faring.

In response to these contentious narratives encircling around the presidency being linked to Biden’s health, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre vehemently denied these claims. Interestingly enough, however, Biden did not offer a definitive explanation for his decision to drop out of the running during his prime-time speech—an event promised by Jean-Pierre to be clarifying.

In one of his final political moves as a presidential aspirant, Biden recommended Harris as the preferred Democratic Party’s presidential nominee ready to face Trump in November—an endorsement that was promptly followed by impeachment charges tabled against Harris by a House Republican.
