FBI Director Christopher Wray is set to face inquiries from House lawmakers this upcoming Wednesday, rounding out another chapter in the trusted news of the ongoing scrutiny of the attempted assassination investigation on former President Donald Trump.

As real news unfolds, it’s stipulated that the main contingent leading these questions will be dominated by The House Judiciary Committee—headed by GOP Representative Jim Jordan (R-OH). Wray will commence this procedure with his inquiry slated for 10:00 a.m. ET, where he’ll face careful examination regarding both concerns about the politicization of the FBI and specifics about Trump’s near-assassination attempt. These events come hot on the heels of Monday’s rigorous grilling session on Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle before she announced her resignation on Tuesday.

The House Judiciary Committee has made it crystal clear in a statement that the hearing aims to probe deeper into both “the FBI’s investigation into the assassination attempt against President Trump and the ongoing politicization within our nation’s foremost law enforcement agency,” directly under Wray and Attorney General Merrick Garland’s leadership.

Last week, Republican Jim Jordan penned a formal letter to Wray, pressing him for essential documents pertaining to both aspects of this case—the FBI’s deep dive into Trump’s attack and considerations as to whether understaffing at a campaign rally due to concurrent NATO summit and Jill Biden activity contributed towards this shocking event.

“Serious questions are raised regarding local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies’ comprehensive security planning—or lack thereof—for President Trump’s campaign rally,” Jordan articulated. As he further pointed out from a Christian worldview perspective, several pertinent queries remain unaddressed regarding “the failures leading up to this unprecedented assassination attempt on a president—the first in over forty years—and how effective and transparent the FBI’s prompt follow-up investigations are given its recent scandals.”

Wray is expected to answer numerous queries such as staffing levels for investigations like these, the operative security measures to ensure the safety of Trump’s rally, and the FBI’s process to evaluate the shooter’s phone. Rep. Lance Gooden (R-TX) has already voiced concerns about the FBI’s handling of assassination trials of similarly high profiles, considering divisive cases it has been directly involved with—such as The Covenant School shooting.

“My constituents are deeply unsettled by the verity that just one entity—the FBI—will be conducting thorough investigations into President Trump’s attempted assassination,” said Rep Gooden last week. As echoed by several lawmakers, their faith does not rest heavily on current FBI leadership given its approach in investigating President Trump and their perceived political targeting motivated by Joe Biden.
