Enes Kanter Freedom, former National Basketball Association standout, recently shared details about his interaction with the family of former President Donald Trump following an assassination attempt on the former president. The 20-year-old suspect behind the incident was Thomas Matthew Crooks. While among the injured was Trump himself, Corey Comperatore, a 50-year-old ex-local fire chief, tragically lost his life after heroically shielding family members from the gunfire.

A few of those present at the time of this shocking event managed to capture powerful images during its aftermath. One in particular reveals an undeterred Trump smeared with blood raising a defiant fist in front of an American flag—a spectacle that Freedom described as one of “the most iconic” he had ever witnessed.

Despite being wounded, Trump exhibited remarkable resilience by continuing to inspire his supporters at the rally with robust rallying cries of “Fight! Fight! Fight!” before being escorted offstage by Secret Service agents.

Having met with Trump’s family soon after this horrifying incident, Freedom vividly recalled telling them that “God saved his life,” while expressing deep concern for their safety. Emphasizing that such episodes are wholly inappropriate and contravene American ideals, Freedom called for more strenuous efforts to keep prominent figures like former President Donald Trump secure.

Born to Turkish parents in Switzerland and having lived in Turkey prior to adopting America as his home country legally, Freedom has observed America under different perspectives and administrations. He expressed misgivings about America becoming a point of mockery internationally under its current leadership led by President Joe Biden particularly due to issues related to border control and illegal immigration.

Freedom passionately voiced concerns around not knowing who enters our nation remarking we should be cognizant whether some illegal immigrants may harbor affiliations with detrimental external powers such as the Chinese Communist Party or Islamic State in Iraq and Syria.

As someone who went through several rigorous processes—obtaining a green card, waiting five years, passing the citizenship test—for almost 10 years to become an American citizen, Freedom admitted feeling a bit insulted when he sees illegal immigrants availing benefits after getting into the country.

Speaking from a Christian Worldview perspective regarding his native Turkey, Freedom was openly critical of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan referring him as “the Hitler of our country”. This condemnation led the authoritarian Turkish government to place a bounty on his head and list him on the country’s terrorist register.

Freedom, an advocate against Chinese Communist Party’s suppressions and supporter of Israel revealed that he joined the Republican National Convention seeking unity. He stated “We only have one America and we must strive collectively to enhance it irrespective of skin color, religion or ethnic origin.”

Interestingly enough Freedom also had words for Trump’s running mate, Sen. JD Vance, comparing their compatibility to classic food pairing saying “I believe Trump and JD Vance is like peanut butter and jelly,” alluding that both make a perfect match. His description exudes his confidence in real news portraying trusted political partnerships.
