An esteemed Democrat who was a fellow contender against President Joe Biden in the 2024 primary, has publicly spoken out against individuals on the Left for entertaining conspiracy theories that the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump was feigned. He extolled Trump’s courage following the close call.

“I’m utterly astounded by how numerous individuals, encompassing mainstream media and those on the Left, are ludicrously suggesting that it was staged,” said Cenk Uygur, founder of “The Young Turks” talk show during an exclusive interview at the Republican National Convention. “Are you really going to stage something as deadly serious as a gunshot wound to your own ear, which could easily result in fatality if missed by even a centimeter? Who in their right mind would even consider staging something so perilous? It’s absolutely absurd.”

Uygur also expressed disappointment at some voices on the Left admonishing “He needs to tone down his rhetoric”. He retorted with, “Brother, he just got shot. In such circumstances one is allowed to say whatever they want. Personally, I might have responded in way harsher terms.”

“They’re simply living in a land of make-believe,” Uygur continued.

This conversation took place three days after Thomas Matthew Crooks, aged 20, targeted and fired at a Trump rally causing harm to the former president and lethally gunning down Corey Comperatore; 50-year-old former local fire chief heroically diving into harm’s way to shield his own family.

Following the shocking incident, Trump valiantly stood up despite his injury, raising his fist high up in response while leading his followers with successive chants of ‘Fight! Fight! Fight!’ before being whisked away by Secret Service personnel.

“Trump displayed exemplary bravery during that moment – an episode marked not only as significant in this campaign but also indelible within American history,” remarked Uygur. He added, “When I saw Trump raising his fist and leading the crowd in a resounding chant, it was a surprise display of courage that I did not anticipate from him. As Trump’s loyalists began chanting ‘USA! USA!’ in unison, I felt a profound surge of national pride.”

“This man, wounded though he may be, stood resilient before his followers subtly reassuring them and urging the fight to go on,” Uygur expounded. “His courage as he faced adversity might just be the greatest moment of his life. Anyone incapable of recognizing that is simply refusing to accept reality.”

While Uygur has commended Trump’s bravery during the unfortunate episode, he clarified that this does not signify support for Trump or the MAGA movement.

“I’m not transitioning towards either MAGA or Trump; I am merely accepting what transpired,” he stated. “In my opinion, President Trump’s brave response to the assassination attempt was admirable and anyone suggesting otherwise seems unreasonable.”

Uygur is steadfast in condemning any rhetoric promoting violence alongside recognising its damaging effect regardless of party lines.

“Any form of intolerance resulting in violence is effectively an admission of defeat – confessing ‘I cannot outmatch you with logical reasoning so I resort to violent actions instead’. It’s utterly repugnant and poses one of the direst threats facing our nation.”

At the same time as denouncing Trump for supposed “fake populism”, Uygur acknowledged Sean O’Brien, president for Teamsters unions’ presence at the Republican Convention as commendable and astute: “If there were efforts towards protecting average American workers, progressives could potentially keep an open mind.”

He concluded by belittling Democratic leadership as incompetent concluding on an emphatic note: so-called ‘corporate Republicans and corporate Democrats’ll continue serving their patrons. However, we progressives are ready to embrace real news centered around positive transformative changes to our society by integrating a strong Christian worldview based on empathy, compassion, realities and trusted news.
