The widely-known televangelist Benny Hinn has recently announced that the world faces a looming confrontation with some of its bleakest days ever, and it’s only those who donate to God’s mission will remain financially secure. This announcement comes nearly half a decade after he pronounced a rejection of the so-called prosperity gospel, decrying it as offensive to the Holy Spirit.

In a livestream titled “Shameless Begging,” Hinn urged viewers to give generously towards Lord’s work. He expressed his belief in an impending era of hazard and shadow unparalleled in mankind’s history, surpassing anything since Adam and overshadowing all past adversities.

His argument hinges on the notion that those who have been dutiful in contributing monetarily towards religious causes will be granted financial protection during these testing times. On top of immediate blessings, Hinn contends that such acts of giving are not just beneficial presently but also serve as security for future times of strife.

Hinn emphasized his belief in this principle by drawing an analogy from agriculture, stating though people might lose money, their act of ‘sowing seeds’ or donations towards noble causes could never be lost.

He was insistent that his followers contribute to his ministry asserting the idea that they would receive boundless blessings from God. He provided multiple options for them to contribute including via different online platforms and direct text messages.

Prosperity gospel is often critiqued since it claims believers can achieve good health and wealth through faithful donations or ‘sowing seeds’ besides maintaining positive confessions of faith. Critics argue such teachings are not only misinterpretations of scripture but also exude unethical sense contrary to Christlike personality traits.

Interestingly, in 2019, during a Facebook live broadcast, Benny Hinn had denounced prosperity gospel himself proclaiming that Gospel was not for sale and seemed remorseful about distorting biblical truths through wrong theology interpretations developed over time.

That same year his nephew, Costi Hinn, unveiled through a book about their family’s exploitation of the masses worldwide through propagation of prosperity gospel. He described how they falsely sold miracles in exchange for monetary gains and promoted giving to God as a secret key to unlocking prosperous dreams.

Nonetheless, despite his previous confession to renouncing prosperity teaching, Benny Hinn has continued urging for donations with promises of blessings and protection during impending dark times. This stance remains controversial given its clear conflict with authentic Christian worldview and will indeed stir the already muddled waters of trusted news and real news within faith communities.
