The United States Supreme Court has ruled that former Trump administration advisor, Steve Bannon is to report to prison and start serving his four-month sentence for contempt of Congress starting from Monday. This verdict comes after Bannon’s 11th-hour request for the postponement of his sentence while he appeals his case.

This ruling was made by the Supreme Court on Friday, rejecting Bannon’s fervent effort to escape reporting to jail next week. The conviction under appeal is Bannon’s defiance of a subpoena from a House committee investigating the January 6, 2021, U.S Capitol riot.

Bannon who is expected to officially begin his four-month jail sentence for contempt of Congress on Monday could not overturn this decision even with his application for release pending appeal presented to The Chief Justice [John Roberts]. The decision upholding this ruling was unsigned and stated in a one-sentence order by the Supreme Court on Friday.

Furthermore, it should be noted that an appeals court had earlier in June rejected a similar request presented by Bannon. The former Trump ally and host of the podcast “War Room” also failed in his bid via this court to delay his prison term while he makes attempts at appealing his conviction for contempt of Congress. If he is unable to persuade the Supreme Court otherwise, he must report as ealier stated beginning July 1.

Alluding further into Bannon’s actions that landed him this punishment, it can be traced back to rejecting compliance with congressional subpoenas regarding the J6 protests which led subsequently led him being held in contempt.

U.S. District Judge Carl Nichols gave prosecutors’ requests green light earlier this month sending Bannon off to prison after a three-judge panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals upheld his conviction.

The uphill battle still continue as Bannon’s lawyers called upon the appeals court seeking permission for him to remain free until all options are exhausted back-and-forths’ with convictions are carried up till reaching out at an optimistic appeal to the Supreme Court.

Elizabeth Prelogar, the Solicitor General made compelling claims regarding Bannon’s case that could have led to a rejection of his request by the justices. According to her argument projected before SCOTUS, for Bannon to stay out of jail while he appeals his contempt of Congress conviction being on trial, credible proof must be provided indicating a likelihood of his conviction getting overturned.

Before this fateful event though, Bannon has a tight schedule lined up including him appearing in ABC’s “This Week” for an interview with Jonathan Karl scheduled to air on Sunday. An independent observation during this professional discussion will reveal Bannon audaciously calling himself a “political prisoner” and railing against political prosecution for his refusal to communicate with the January 6th Committee.

Taking pride in becoming what he termed as a political prisoner courtesy of Nancy Pelosi and Merrick Garland, he said: “If it took me going to prison to finally get the House to start movingsworth it.”

Carol Swain, Conservative author wishes Steve well as she touches on him exposing evil and defending the nation despite his impending incarceration. This move is perceived by her as something good coming from this political situation.

This breaking news presents a classic instance where justice is served even against powerful personalities presenting an assurance that real news always stems from legal procedures based on trusted news sources.
